Controls

Type Gun can be played with keyboard, touchscreen, or mouse and keyboard.

Touch -- Type Gun uses double-touch controls. To move the jet, touch anywhere on-screen in the same vertical area as the jet. To fire your weapon, tap anywhere on the rest of the screen. Menus are navigated by tapping selections such as Play.

Keyboard -- 'W' to move up, 'S' to move down, 'K' to fire.

Mouse -- Clicking anywhere in the same vertical area of the jet will move the jet to that vertical position, while clicking elsewhere will fire the weapon.

About

Type Gun is a collaboration between artist mox and developer Tiny Bookshelf (aka Eric Bailey). All of the visuals are composed entirely of typeset, as though the game were made on a typewriter. This style has been kept as faithful as possible: All lettering is kept to the same scale, no fading/rotation effects, etc. In theory, you could take a screenshot at any point of gameplay and recreate it on an authentic typewriter. If you enjoy this unique stylistic gamefeel, keep an eye out for future possible collabs.

This horizontal shmup is a high-score challenge (although you may reach a killscreen if your score gets too high...), with enemies that gradually both spawn at an increased pace and move at an increased speed as the player increases their killcount.
